Donie Harr

     Donie Harr age 53 of Rock Rapids, Iowa died Monday, June 14, 2021 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

     Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, Iowa with Larry Wendland, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids, Iowa.

     Visitation will be 9:00 until the time of the service with the family present from at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

     The family requests no flowers.  They request memorials be given to Midwest Honor Flight.

     Donie Loren Harr was born July 15, 1967, the son of Terry Lee and Penny (Borman) Harr in Rock Rapids, Iowa.  He grew up in Hills, Minnesota, Garretson and Sioux Falls, South Dakota and finished his schooling at West Lyon School.  After high school, he moved various places but lived primarily in Rock Rapids and Sioux Falls.  In the past, he worked in welding and carpentry.  His favorite career was being a heavy equipment operator, and most recently worked for First Rate Excavating in Sioux Falls. 

     When Donie was younger he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and pencil sketching.  In the most recent years, you would find Donie riding his Harley Davidson, playing guitar, or playing video games with his grandson Armin.  He was a big fan of Mopar.  Donie’s grandson Armin was his pride and joy.  His family will cherish all the memories and advice he gave them. 

     Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Penny Lorenzen of Rock Rapids, IA; sons, Tylor Harr of Rock Rapids, IA, Derek Harr of Rock Rapids, IA, Rykker Harr of Sioux Falls, SD, and Paxton Giedd of Akron, IA; grandson, Armin Harr of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers, Danie Harr of Sioux Center, IA, Keith Harkema of Baltic, SD, Wade Harkema of Volga, SD, and Vance Harkema of Sioux Falls, SD; along with many extended family.

     He was preceded in death by his grandparents; birth father, Terry Harr; and father, John Harkema.
