Ocheyedan, IA 

     Dorothy Post, age 88 formerly of Ocheyedan, IA died on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley, IA.

     Private funeral service for family will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 28^th at the Christian Reformed Church in Ocheyedan, with Reverend Tom DeDoes officiating.

     Burial will follow in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery.

     Public visitation will be Wednesday, October 27^th with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Christian Reformed Church in Ocheyedan. 

     Arrangements are in the care of the Jurrens Funeral Home of Ocheyedan.

     Dorothy Jeanette Post was born on April 15, 1933, in Melvin, IA, the daughter of Dick and Jennie (Vandarger) Zylstra. She grew up in the Ocheyedan and Melvin areas and attended Country School there.

     On February 6, 1957, Dorothy was united in marriage to John Post at the Christian Reformed Church in Ocheyedan. The couple made their home near Ocheyedan where they farmed.

     Dorothy was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Ocheyedan, where she was active in the Sunshine Circle and helped with a fundraiser for the Christian School called “Trash for Cash”. She also volunteered calling out numbers for BINGO at Sibley Specialty Care for the residence.

     Dorothy was a wonderful cook and baker. She like to crochet and help her husband John with the farming.

     Dorothy is survived by two stepchildren, Harold (Everly) Post of Holstein, IA, and Sharon (Ray) Talsma of Chandler, MN; four children, Joyce (Claude) Wiersma of Allendale, MI, Larry Post of Ocheyedan, IA, Brian Post of Sheldon, IA and Connie Post of Sioux Falls, SD; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Everdean Bonnes of Zeeland, MI; nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick, and Jennie Zylstra; husband, John Post; stepson, Dennis Post; son, Ken Post; and one grandson, Benjamin Wiersma.
