     Dorothy Mae Thorin, age 90, of Hills, MN died Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

     Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Friday, September 6^th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Hills, MN, with Rev. Maggie Berndt-Dreyer officiating.

     Burial will follow at Flowerfield Cemetery rural Hills, MN.

     Visitation will be Friday, September 6^th one hour prior to the service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Hills, MN.

     Dorothy Mae Thorin was born April 12, 1929 in Lyon County, Iowa, the daughter of Lennart and Mabel (Severson) Thorin. She was raised on family farms in the Garretson, SD, Beaver Creek, MN and Hills, MN areas. She graduated from Hills High School in 1947 and began working for a short time for the John Deere Implement in Hills. She then began a 42-year career with the Exchange State Bank in Hills, retiring in 1994. Dorothy also provided care for several years for her mother, Mabel. She moved to Tuff Assisted Living before entering the Tuff Memorial Home in September of 2018. She remained living there until her death.

     Dorothy was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, active with the BLCW and Church Circle and served as Treasurer of the Hills Community Club. She enjoyed traveling with relatives, playing guitar in her younger years, puzzles, word finds and was an avid reader, especially the Bible. She will be remembered as a strong woman of faith and for her wonderful sense of humor. When she was asked how she was doing, she simply said, “I’m A – okay!”

     She is survived by her brother, Jerome “Jerry” Thorin of Hills, MN; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Lennart and Mabel Thorin; brother, Arnold Thorin; sister, Maxine Hanson; brother-in-law, Charles Hanson; two sisters-in-law, June Thorin and Dianne Thorin.
