George, IA Douglas A. Harms, age 67 of Estelline, SD died Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at his residence in Estelline, SD. A private family service will be held Saturday, May 1st at Jurrens Funeral Home of George, IA, with burial to follow at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George. Memorials may be directed to: Union Gospel Mission, 701 E 8th Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57103. Douglas Allen Harms was born January 20, 1954 in Sibley, Iowa, the son of Daryl D. and Jeanne E. (Bertrand) Harms. As a young boy he lived in Ellsworth, MN, until 1960, when they moved to Luverne, MN. He attended Luverne Community School. After his education and began working as a welder and later owned and operated a welding shop in Kenneth, MN. He later drove truck for M.C.T. in Sioux Falls, SD and lastly worked at Twin City Farms in Brookings, SD. He retired in 2013. Doug enjoyed his time outdoors, such as gardening and canning, trapping, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and playing guitar. He also wrote his own songs. Most of all, his faith and family were very important. He is survived by his parents, Daryl and Jeanne Harms of Bella Vista, AR; two children, Stacey (husband Bounephath “Smiley”) Luong of Worthington, MN and Justin (wife Falecha) Harms of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren, Alex, Marina, SemaJay, Karlie, and Matthias; four siblings, Roger Harms of Bella Vista, AR, Bev Mehlhaff of Bella Vista, AR, Brad Harms of Rogers, AR and Mike Harms of Bella Vista, AR; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bruno and Anna Harms; and uncle, Orvel Dreesen.
