   Douglas Johnson age 77 of Sibley, Iowa died Tuesday April 10, 2019 at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley.

     Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 17^th at Jurrens Funeral Home in Ashton, IA.

     Burial will follow in the Gilman Township Cemetery of Ashton.

     Visitation will be Tuesday, April 16^th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Ashton.

     Douglas Michael Johnson was born June 30, 1941 to Mike and Dena Johnson of Rural Ashton, Ia. Douglas was born physically and mentally disabled.  He was in the care of his parents until his mother could no longer care for him.

Doug lived in Assisted Living in Ashton, Viola House in Sibley and lastly in Sibley Specialty care where he passed away Wednesday, April 10, at the age of 77.

     His mother was faithfully devoted to taking care of him.  We all say it was only a mother’s love that kept him alive, as he was not expected to live due to his premature birth.

Doug was very special to his older siblings.  He leaves many memories of the all the things he accomplished.  Lots of fun and laughter.  Doug had his own language which his siblings understood.  Doug was very happy at Specialty Care and the personal there cared for him in a very special way.  He will be missed.

     Doug leaves to cherish his memory, 3 brothers and 3 sisters:  Stanley Johnson of Sibley, Virgil (Marilyn)Johnson of Basye VA, Howard of Ashton, Marjorie (Johnson) Roelofsen of Okoboji, Betty (Johnson) Bob Blankers of Owatonna, MN, Arlyce Johnson of MPLS, MN.

1 cousin Linda Anderson of Sheldon and many nieces and nephews.

     Doug was preceded in death by his parents:  Mike and Dena Johnson of Rural Ashton. Sisters-in-law: Leila (Howard) Johnson, Lois (Stanley) Johnson.  Brother-in-law, Roger (Rolly) Roelofsen of Okoboji.
