Edward Brandt age 95 of Sibley, IA, died Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Country View Care Center in Sibley, IA.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, with Reverend Terry Simm officiating.
Burial will take place prior to the service at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley, IA. Family and friends will gather at Jurrens Funeral Home at 9:30 Tuesday morning before processing to the cemetery. Military honors provided by the George E. Mudge American Legion Post No. 324 and William F. Allard VFW Post No. 7373.
Visitation will be Monday, November 5th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

Edward Brandt was born May 9, 1923 at Amherst, SD, the son of Henry and Ella (Roehr) Brandt. At the age of six years he moved to Sibley, IA. He attended the Sibley Public School and graduated from Sibley High School in 1941. He served in the United States Army Air Force (Medical Corp) from 1943 to 1946. On October 28, 1947 he married Lillian Henrichs of Rushmore, MN. They spent their entire life in Sibley. Lillian died on January 11, 1992 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was assistant manager of the JC Penney store in Sibley for four years, office manager at Priebe & Sons Inc for eight years. In 1957 he was appointed Postmaster at Sibley by President Eisenhower. He served as Postmaster 32 years retiring in 1989.
Ed was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sibley, IA. He was an ordained Elder and Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Club sponsor, Church Treasurer and Building Fund Treasurer. He also served on the Planning, Budget & Evaluation Committee, General Council, and Committee of Ministry of Prospect Hill Presbytery. He was a member of the American Legion Post #524, Osceola County Historical Society, served on the Board of Directors of the Osceola Community Hospital and was a member and past president of the Sibley Rotary Club. He was a member and held offices in The National Association of Postmasters and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Organization.
He is survived by son, Duane and his wife, Juanita of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Paulette and her husband Lorry Massa of St. Paul, MN; six grandchildren, Duey, Colette, Janina, Joe, Nicole and Nate; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Ardis Scholten and her husband Wally of Sibley, IA and Marlys Polzine and her husband Glenn of Forest Lake, MN; many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian.
