Esther Mae Julius

     Esther Julius age 95 of Rock Rapids, IA died Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Sanford Rock Rapids Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA.

     Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 28^th at Bethel Reformed Church, rural Little Rock, IA, with Rev. Paul Snyder officiating.

     Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  

   Visitation will be Friday December 28^th, one hour prior to the service at Bethel Reformed Church.

     Esther Mae Julius was born on January 11, 1923 on her family’s farm in Midland Township, the daughter of John and Grace (Aeilts) Bos. She received her education at the Midland Country school and later graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1941. She then helped her parents on the farm.

     On March 5, 1949, Esther was united in marriage to Henry Julius at the Bethel Reformed Parsonage. The couple farmed near Ellsworth and to this union their daughter Kathy was born. Esther was a lifelong member of the Bethel Reformed Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and helping her husband on the farm. She was a hard worker and valued keeping a clean house. Esther loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter, Dillon. She will be greatly missed.

     Esther is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Henry Julius of Rock Rapids, IA; daughter, Kathy (Bob) de Koning of Rock Rapids, IA; two granddaughters: Erin de Koning (Justin Reiter) of Ellsworth, MN and Kristin de Koning of Omaha, NE; one great-granddaughter, Dillon Reiter; two sisters: Pauline Peterson of Bozeman, MT and Jo Ann (George) Ransom of Ellsworth, MN; brother-in-law, Leo (Faye) Julius of Rushmore, MN; four sisters-in-law: Marcella Julius of Sibley, IA, Genevieve Lutterman of Fulda, MN, Shirlene Grote and Audrey Julius both of Sibley, IA; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Grace Bos; sister, Evelyn Wilson; eight brothers-in-law: Edger Wilson, Bob Peterson, Lloyd Timmons, George Julius, Jack Hoffman, George Lutterman, Frank Julius and Lawrence “Bud” Grote; two sisters-in-law: Marie Timmons and Marlee Hoffman.
