Hills, MN       Frances Sandager age 101 of Hills, MN died Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN.           Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, MN, with Pastor Maggie Berndt-Dreyer officiating. Burial will follow at Flowerfield cemetery near Hills, MN.           Visitation will be Friday, April 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills, MN.        In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorials to be made to Lutheran World Relief or Global Health Ministries.      Frances Jane Sandager was born October 5, 1916 in Rock County, MN to Sidney and Estella Mae (Bennett) Cragoe. Fran grew up in the Beaver Creek area and graduated from Beaver Creek High School. Her sister Donna Mae and brother Randall passed away at an early age. Fran attended "Normal" teacher’s college in Luverne, MN and taught in a country school for three years. She then attended Mankato State College and taught in Garden City, MN for two years. She married Victor Leon Sandager, August 20, 1942 and they farmed in the Hills, MN area. To their union of 62 years they had five children: David Randall (deceased age 14); John Craig (Julie) of Colorado Springs, CO; Mark Leon (Karen) of Hills, MN; Jane Clare (Daryl) Schubert of Mitchell, SD; James Philip (Louisa) of West Des Moines, IA; a foster son, Edward (Linda) Hartog of Sacramento, CA; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.      Fran's life of 101 years was blessed by her teaching profession and her family. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was active in Bible studies and women’s Circle. She taught 6th grade at a mission school while serving a volunteer year in New Guinea with Vic and her family. She enjoyed participating in the Norse Glee Club auxiliary and served on the SW MN District Board of the American Lutheran Church. Her travel to many places and hosting exchange students from around the world provided unique and memorable experiences. She was passionate about her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many dear friends both near and far.      Fran is survived by her children, grand children and great grandchildren; step brother, Ron (Barb) Cragoe of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers and sisters in-law, Sheldon Sandager of Hills, MN, Lee and Betty Sandager of Marine on St. Croix, MN, Anita Johnson of Wayzata, MN; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.      Fran was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor; son, David; brother, Randall; sister, Donna Mae; stepmother and friend Eva Cragoe; brothers and sisters in-law, Bob and Lenore Hansen, Henry and Leona Goehle, Merle and Marie Muckala, Elnora Sandager, Paul Sandager, Harold Johnson; special friends Howard and Carolyn Crawford.
