Fredwin Trei, age 79, of George, Iowa, died on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at his home in George.
 
A memorial service will take place 10:30 AM Monday, January 1, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in George with Reverend Dale Lint officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

A private burial service will take place Tuesday at Zoar Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Fredwin John Trei the son of Donald and Mae Trei was born September 20, 1944 in George, Iowa.  He received his education from country school and graduated from the 8th grade.  He didn't have to go far to school because the school was across the road from his home.

  
On June 24, 1963 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Faye Schmidt at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  The couple made their home on the family farm together.  Fredwin loved farm life, raised livestock and had a love for horses.  Together with family, they went on many trail rides with the Sibley Saddle Club.

Fredwin and Faye enjoyed going to Country Western dances with friends and loved taking family trips to Branson, Missouri.  He especially loved eating out at the Cracker Barrel.  After retirement from farming, he enjoyed riding his 4 wheeler and checking the crops.  Fredwin enjoyed his Bible word searches and doing latch hook projects together with Faye.  He also enjoyed the visits with the grandkids and great grandkids, and sharing coffee and cookies.

Fredwin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Faye; children, Lisa (David) Daniels of George, IA, Jackie (Myron) Bechler of Sheldon, IA, Kevin (Colleen) Trei of George, IA, Dawn (Doug) Petersen of Estherville, IA, Darcy Hansmann of George, IA, Donald (Jessica) Trei of George, IA; seventeen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Louise Trei of Orange City, IA; brother-in-law, Jerry Feldkamp of Grapevine, TX; sister, Laura (Tom) Nowaski of Raleigh, NC; brother, Daryl Trei of Cape Coral, FL; along with extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Mae Trei; brother Robert Trei; sister, Donna Mae Feldkamp; and son-in-law, Mark Hansmann.
