Gail Hartter age 67 of Rock Rapids, IA died Monday, May 2, 2022, at her residence in Rock Rapids.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 6th at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, Iowa. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 5th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. with the family present at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Lester.
Gail Arlene (Knoblock) Hartter was born June 24, 1954, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Martin & Zelma Knoblock. She was raised on a farm near Rock Rapids, IA, and attended school at West Lyon, where she graduated in 1972. After graduation, she attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon for one year. She was converted and baptized in the Apostolic Christian Church of Lester on February 25, 1973, where she remained a member until her death. On October 7, 1973, she married Jerome Hartter. They resided in Sabetha, KS, for seven months before returning to Rock Rapids. Jerome and Gail raised three children together: Matt, Kary & Eric. Gail was employed at the Rock Rapids hospital from 1974 until her retirement in 2020. Gail enjoyed being with children, grandchildren, sisters, and friends, and enjoyed helping others. Gail died on May 2, 2022, at her home in Rock Rapids, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 67 years old.
Gail is survived by her husband, Jerome; her children Matt (Hana) Hartter, Kary (Dana) Metzger, and Eric (Amy) Hartter, all of Rock Rapids; siblings Roger (Janet) Knoblock of Lester, Linda (Ralph) Knapp of Congerville, IL, LaVonne (Roger) Aberle of Sabetha, KS, Charlene Messner of Lester, Susan (Pete) VanWyhe of Lester, and Joyce (Glen) Metzger of Lester; twenty-one grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Martin & Zelma Knoblock; a brother, Kenneth Knoblock; and brother-in-law, Henry Messner.
