Gayle Jacobsma age 70 of Sibley, IA died Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 21st at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, with Reverend Terry Simm and Pastor Maggie Gisch officiating.
Private burial for family will take place prior to the service in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley, IA.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 20th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Sibley, IA.
The Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flower family prefers memorials.
Gayle Miriam Jacobsma was born on November 10, 1948 in Hastings, MN, the daughter of Donald and Sheila (Kyle) Soderquist. She grew up in Hastings until her freshman year of high school in 1962, when she and her family moved to Sibley, IA. Gayle later graduated from Sibley High School in 1966. She was united in marriage to Larry Jacobsma on October 23, 1965 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA. To this union their son, Clark was born. Gayle worked various places throughout her life as a dental assistant, manager at the Casey’s General Store for thirteen years and before her retirement at Country View Manor Care Center in Sibley. She was a fifty-year member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon and the Dorcus Circle. Some of her hobbies included cake decorating, cooking, baking, reading and she loved to travel.
Gayle is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Larry Jacobsma of Sibley, IA; son, Clark Jacobsma of Hudson, WI; grandson, Ethan Jacobsma of South Lake Tahoe, CA; her mother, Sheila Soderquist of Sibley, IA; sister, Lynn (Harold) Schram of Sibley, IA and brother, Reverend Paul (Gail) Soderquist of Mesa, AZ; two sisters-in-law: Colleen Jacobsma (Mike Veilevx) of Wausau, WI and Brenda (Bruce) Seivert of Sibley, IA; and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Soderquist in 2012; and her sister, Leslie Duin in 2016.
