   Gary Pomrenke age 79 of Sibley, IA died Friday, October 4, 2019 at Country View Manor in Sibley, IA.

     Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA with Rev. Terry Simm officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Gilman Township Cemetery in Ashton, IA.

     Visitation will be Monday, October 7^th from 5:00 to 8:00 with family present at the Jurrens Funeral Home Walton Chapel in Sibley, IA.

Gary Pomrenke was born June 17, 1940 near Ocheyedan, IA to George and Esther (Houwen) Pomrenke. He attended Country School at the Holman #11 and Horton Township country schools as well as Ocheyedan High School.

     Gary worked on road construction crews most of his career. He very much enjoyed running the large equipment. Mostly he ran earth moving equipment such as scrapers and road graders. He worked throughout the area and region.

     Gary enjoyed going to the Senior Center and playing cards with his friends, playing cribbage and going to Pronto for coffee with his friends. He also enjoyed going on group bus rides to area casinos where he could play the slots.

     He was a gentle man with a big heart. Easy going would be a good way to describe Gary. He loved his family very much.

     He is survived by his siblings, sister, Elnora Dirks of Ocheyedan, IA, Erma (Dan) Mairose of LeMars, IA, and brother, Glenden (Betty) Pomrenke of Worthington, MN; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Pomrenke of Sibley, IA; Jenola Uden of Worthington, MN; nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

     Gary was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Esther Pomrenke; sisters, Earlene Uden and Eva Dieters; brother, George Pomrenke Jr.; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Dirks, Carl Dieters and Melvin Uden.
