     George Pomrenke, Jr. age 81 of Sibley, IA died Monday, November 26, 2018 at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

     Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 30^th at First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA with Rev. Terry Simm, officiating.

     Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery, of Sibley.

     Visitation will be Thursday, November 29^th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley.

     George Pomrenke Jr. was born November 16, 1937 in Sibley, Iowa, the son of George Adolf and Esther (Houwen) Pomrenke. George grew up in Ocheyedan and received his education at the Ocheyedan school. He was united in marriage to LaVonne Gerdes on October 7, 1955 in Allendorf, IA.  George farmed, and worked at Exopak in Sibley for 30 years, before retiring in 2002. George was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, camping, spending time with his coffee buddies, and was a true Green Bay Packers fan. He also loved to work in his lawn.

     George is survived by his wife, LaVonne; nine children Kim (Dan) Hohbach of Hospers, IA, Greg (Debi) Pomrenke of Nixa, MO, LeAnn (Mike) Dagel of Sibley, IA, Linda (Brad) Julius of Sibley, IA, Jerry (Teresa) Pomrenke of Milford, IA, Scott (Colette) Pomrenke of Orange City, IA, Rick (Missy) Pomrenke of Farmington, MN, Alisa (Matt) Russell of Bigelow, MN, and Gina (Brian) Marco of Sibley, IA; 23 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; brothers, Glenden (Betty) Pomrenke of Worthington, MN, Gary Pomrenke of Sibley, IA; sisters, Elnora Dirks of Ocheyedan, IA and Erma (Dan) Mairose of LeMars, IA.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Earlene Uden and Eva Dieters; grandson, Christopher Julius; and one great granddaughter, Kamren Julius.
