     Gerrit “Gary” Vande Kamp age 84 of George, Iowa died Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

     Private Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in George, IA, with Pastor Sean Mustian officiating.

     Public visitation will be Tuesday, November 24^th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George, IA.

     Gerrit Anthony Vande Kamp was born on August 6, 1936 at Maurice, IA, the son of Albert and Marie (de Boom) Vande Kamp.  Gary’s family later moved to farm between George and Doon, IA.

     On August 6, 1958, he was united in marriage to Jean Velt Kamp and to this union four children were born, Kathy, Kristi, Kelly, and Konni.  After 29 years of marriage Gary’s wife Jean died in April of 1988.  Gary later met and married Arlis Bloem on June 22, 1990 at the First Baptist Church of George, IA.

     Gary worked several jobs throughout his life such as he first own and operated Rock Rapids Machine and Welding in Rock Rapids, IA, then for Hope Haven and Kooima Company in Rock Valley, IA, and Sudenga Industries in George, IA where he later retired.  After his retirement he worked for Dave Visser for a time.

     While living in Rock Valley he served on the Rock Valley Ambulance.  Gary enjoyed fishing and motorcycles and loved making and fixing things.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.  He will greatly be missed.

     Gary is survived by his wife of over thirty years, Arlis Vande Kamp of George, IA; three children, Kristi (Gary) Baker of Doon, IA, Kelly (Joey) Griffith of Hospers, IA, and Konni Vande Kamp of Sioux Falls, SD; three step-children, Kevin (Sharon) Tjepkes of Sibley, IA, Brenda (Greg) Janssen of Le Mars, IA, and Paula (special friend, Doug Woelber) Tjepkes of George, IA; son-in-law, Darwin Van Anken of Doon, IA; twelve grandchildren, Ashley (Dale) Lewis, Aimee (Kenny) Scholten, Alyssa (Lennon) Slade, Danny (Miranda) Griffith, Valerie (James) Schilling, Shauna (Joshua) Jurrens, Paul (Hope) Tjepkes, Johnathan (special friend, Claudia Ronquillo) Griffith, Keith (special friend, Mikayla Miller) Eben, Kendra (special friend, Kyle Wilkersen) Eben, Melissa (special friend, David DeBoer) Eben, and Tyler Popkes; thirty great-grandchildren; four sibling, Jeanne Koel, Mary (John) Davelaar, Alwayne (Freddy) Vande Kamp, and Lyle (Joan) Vande Kamp; many nieces nephews and other extended family.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Marie Vande Kamp; his first wife, Jean Vande Kamp; daughter, Kathy Van Anken; and brother, Charles Vande Kamp.
