     Gertrude “Trudy” Freese, age 91 of Rock Rapids died Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, IA.

     Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, July 13^th at Faith Baptist Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Reverend Jeff Poppinga officiating.

     Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids.

     Visitation will be Thursday, July12^th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

     Gertrude Johanna Freese was born on September 30, 1926 to John and Bertha (Schoeneman) Ahders in rural Rock Rapids, IA. She attended country school in Midland Township, Lyon County. On June 4, 1947, she married John Freese in Midland Township, Lyon County, IA and to this union seven children were born. The couple lived various place throughout their life, such as Rock Rapids, IA, Little Rock, IA, Granada Hills, CA, Walnut Grove, MN and Sibley, IA. As her children were growing up, she had various custodial jobs. For fifteen years she was employed at Rock Rapids State Bank. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, taking care of her house plants, she liked to draw and play piano. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Trudy was a faithful serving member of Faith Baptist Church in Rock Rapids. She trusted in the Lord at an early age.

     Trudy is survived by seven children: Barbara (Gary) Patton of Rock Rapids, IA, LaMont (Marla) Freese of Rock Rapids, IA, Carol (Ken) Beyer of Inwood, IA, Marilyn LaFrenz of Rock Rapids, IA, Janet (Gerald) Dirks of Rock Rapids, IA, Rhonda (Kevin) Hammer of Rock Rapids, IA and Mark (Danielle) Freese of Bluff City, TN; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria (Phil) Prins of George, IA and Dorothy (Henry) Bosch of Rock Rapids, IA; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband John on July 24, 2002; four siblings, Elfriede, Herbert, Hertha and Marge; grandson, Neil Birkeland; and son-in-law, Ron LaFrenz.
