Glenn Doorenbos age 95 of Sibley, Iowa died Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Country View Manor in Sibley.
Friends and family may gather at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, December 13th at the Sheridan Township Cemetery of Boyden, Iowa, for a 9:00 a.m. committal service, with military honors to follow by the William Monster American Legion Post No. 272 of Boyden, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, December 13th, at the First Reformed Church in Sibley, with Reverend Brian Carpenter officiating.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.
Glenn Doorenbos was born on December 24, 1928. He was the son of Lawrence and Elsie (Schafer) Doorenbos. Glenn enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, when he was honorably discharged and returned home to Boyden, Iowa. On January 24, 1957, he was united in marriage to Jeane Boerhave in Sheldon, Iowa. The couple lived on a farm near George where they raised two boys, Merlin and later Paul. In 1971, they moved to a farm near Sibley. He and his wife were active members of the First Reformed Church in Sibley. Jeane passed away on October 29, 1983. In 1995, Glenn was blessed with a granddaughter, Kelsey, that he thought the world of. He enjoyed camping, having coffee with his friends, and spending time with his family.
Glenn passed away on December 9, 2024, at the age of 95 at the Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Merlin (wife, Karen) Doorenbos, and their daughter, Kelsey Doorenbos; and Paul Doorenbos; one brother, Don Doorenbos; and many nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Gary Jay in 1959; an infant daughter, Marilyn June in 1960; sisters, Bev Kruger and Lois Kuiper; brothers, Harlan, Lester, and Doug Doorenbos; two sisters-in-law, Maggie Doorenbos and Waneta Doorenbos.
