Glenn Klingenberg Sr. age 95, of Sibley, IA passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at the Osceola Regional Health Center in Sibley, IA.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with the family present at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

Glenn Robert Klingenberg was born on October 2, 1927, in George, IA, the son of Klaas and Lena (Hassebroek) Klingenberg.  He grew up on a farm near George and attended country school and later graduated from George High School.

On March 10, 1949, Glenn was united in marriage to Doris Marion Larsen at the Zoar Presbyterian manse.  The couple had five children, Dorothy, Glenn Jr., Ronald, Lyle, and Donna.  They farmed in Sheldon, IA and Melvin, IA, before settling near Adrian, MN.  They moved to Sibley, IA after retiring from farming in 2003.

Glenn was a member of the Zoar Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an Elder of the church.

In addition to his life-long love of farming, he enjoyed working with his Belgian draft horses, tinkering with old Case tractors, and collecting toy tractors. He and his wife of 73 years also enjoyed many polka dances, playing cards, and visiting with family near and far. Glenn was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed time with his generations of grandchildren. Deemed the "baby whisperer" of the family, he could calm even the fussiest of children and could often be seen rocking a very contented baby during family visits. Glenn had a quick wit and a warm heart. He will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his five children and twelve grandchildren:  Dorothy (Jay) Bolkema and their children, Todd (Christine) Bolkema, Jody (Pete) Haverhals, and April (Levi) Nieuwsma; Glenn Jr (Sandy) Klingenberg and their children, Gene (Becky Fiebiger) Klingenberg, Cory (Heidi) Klingenberg and Erin (Matthew) Post; Ronald (Kris) Klingenberg and their children, Jessie (AJ) Rentschler and Ross (Sydney Schuknecht) Klingenberg; Lyle (LeeAnne) Klingenberg and their children, Anton Klingenberg, Amalia (Tyler) Zick and Josie Klingenberg; and Donna (Aaron Krizik) Klingenberg and their daughter, Rilen Klingenberg Krizik; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren;  brother-in-law, Jim (Virginia) Larsen of Sibley, IA; sister-in-law, Jessie Kacuiba of Sioux Falls, SD; nieces, nephews and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Klaas and Lena Klingenberg; wife, Doris Klingenberg; six siblings, Klaas Klingenberg, Martha Harms, Nancy Timmer, Willys Klingenberg, Mabel Voss, and Roy Klingenberg; and two great grandsons, Colton, and Witten.
