Gloria Sueverkruebbe age 92 of Rock Rapids, IA, died Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in George, Iowa.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, May 14th at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, IA.
Burial will be at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Alvord, IA on Monday afternoon.
Visitation will be Monday, May 14th from 9:30 until the hour of service at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids.
Gloria G. Sueverkruebbe was born November 14, 1925 on a farm near Rock Rapids, IA to August and Minnie (Bunte) Schemmel. She received her education at a country school and later graduated from Rock Rapids High School. As a young lady Gloria worked at the Lyon County Recorder as an office assistant. On October 23, 1949 she was united in marriage to Clay Sueverkruebbe at the Christ Lutheran Church in Alvord. The couple made their home first in Lester, IA and then to a farm outside of Lester. They remained there until 1976 at which time as a result of health concerns for Clay, they retired from farming. Gloria worked for a time at a manufacturing facility in Canton, SD before returning to the Recorder’s office in Rock Rapids where she worked many years as an assistant to the Recorder. She will be remembered by her family as a loving and caring woman. Her concern for others was always placed before her own needs. She cared for her mother and father faithfully in their later years as they struggled with health issues. She was always there to take them where they needed to go and provide loving help. She also cared for her husband his last seven years during his time on dialysis. Her grandchildren enjoyed coming in the summer to spend time with Grandma. She loved having them and spoiled them with goodies. Gloria was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Alvord for many years before moving to Rock Rapids. She then attended Peace Lutheran Church. Gloria moved to Good Samaritan Care Center in George, IA. This past Thursday, after having a good day and attending Bible Study, Gloria passed away at the age of 92. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by daughter, Cheryl (William) Chamberlin of Brooklyn Center, MN; 2 grandchildren, Gregory (Cassie) Chamberlin of Gilbert, AZ and Angela (Brandon) Kratky of Otsego, MN; grandchildren, Axel and Knox Chamberlin and Brooklyn and Rylee Kratky.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Clay.
