Gordon Siebring was born March 29, 1933, at George, IA, the son of Owen and Esther (Banghart) Siebring.  Gordon grew up in George and attended George Public School graduating in 1951.  He enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country for two years.  During his time in the service, he was united in marriage to Arlyne Kruse.  To this union two children were born, Gordon Jr. and Karen.  Gordon graduated from Shelton College in Ringwood, NJ with a degree in Bible Languages and continued his education at NYU where he studied Counseling/Christian education. Gordon started his career in rehabilitation working for The Pennsylvania Association for the Blind in Altoona, PA and then moved to Beatrice, NE where he worked for the Martin Luther Home.  From there started working for Goodwill Industries, where he worked with blind and mentally challenged individuals.  His work with Goodwill was in Omaha, Colorado Springs, Toledo, OH, and Detroit.  After leaving Goodwill he became a partner in his family’s business in George – Siebring Manufacturing.  For many years he was their salesman and later managed the manufacturing plant.  On a July 4th celebration in George, he met Betty Eilders and a relationship started.  On April 3, 1982, they were united in marriage.  They spent the next 38 years working, traveling and enjoying their time together.  They took many memorable trips.  When Gordon retired, he sold Siebring Manufacturing to Warren Tiedeman, but continued to visit and help out where he could.  Gordon enjoyed his family and the many friendships he developed during his life.  He was always busy learning and exploring new things such as, Bible and history studies, reading, traveling and woodworking.  He was an active member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Gideons, Toys for God’s Kids, Talking Bibles, Kiwanis International and the American Legion in George.

He is survived by his children, Gordon Jr. (Kathy) Siebring of Albion, IA and Karen Siebring (Jeff Butler) of Rio Rancho, NM; six grandchildren, Andrea (Paul) Goodrich, Owen Siebring, Grant Siebring, Keriann (Jacob) Hawkins, Erika (Matt Goodson) Park-Goodson, Cameron Park; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Gary (Beverly) Siebring of George, IA; sister, Marianne Cole of George, IA; along with many nieces and nephews.
