Harlan Jay Knobloch

Alvord, IA

     Harlan Jay Knobloch age 52, of Alvord, IA went to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 12, 2019. He was residing at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne, MN.

     Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA.

     Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery rural Lester, IA.

     Visitation will be Friday, February 15th with family present from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and again at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Lester, IA.

     In lieu of flowers, the family has designated the Beacon Foundation of Lyon County or the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne for memorial contributions.

     Harlan Jay Knobloch was born April 29, 1966 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Orvie and Lauretta (Tanner) Knobloch.  He grew up in Alvord and attended West Lyon High School, graduating in 1985.  He attended NITC College in Sheldon where he became a skilled welder. 

     Harlan worked at Demco in Boyden while attending college.  He then worked as a farmhand and at Wenger Manufacturing in Sabetha, Kansas.  Throughout his life, he also did various welding and handyman jobs.  His most recent job was at Air Pro in Dallas, TX installing and fabricating air conditioning units in vehicles.  He was especially proud of the high-end and classic vehicles he worked on.  Because of his large giving heart, he constantly was helping anyone with a need. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and really enjoyed making his nieces and nephews laugh.  He is remembered for his tinkering and scrapping.  He spent some time helping at Knobloch Greenhouse and enjoyed planting and working customer service.  Harlan also enjoyed his last sightseeing trip in the Black Hills with his family.  One of his most memorable moments was when he went to Illinois to see the Tanner Home Place, where he chose to start serving the Lord.  Harlan was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. 

     Those left to cherish his memories are his siblings, David Knobloch of Alvord, IA, Donald (Lorry) Knobloch of Eureka, IL, Jerry (Linda) Knobloch of Eureka, IL, Jim (Sandy) Knobloch of West Bend, IA, Virgil (Katrina) Knobloch of Bloomfield, IA, Lynette (Mark) Knips of Magnolia, MN, and Alvin (Sandra) Knobloch of Alvord, IA; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; special friends, Phil and Linda Daniels, Tim Ready, Melinda, and son Zachary; paternal aunts and uncle, Dale (Mary) Knobloch, Dena Weiss and Betty Dietrich; maternal aunts and uncles, Verna Wettstein, Madolyn Tanner, Phyllis (Kenneth) Rokey, and Don (Mary Alice) Tanner.

     Harlan is preceded in death by his parents, Orvie and Lauretta Knobloch; grandparents, Jacob and Lydia Knobloch, and Adolph and Esther Tanner; paternal aunts and uncles, Matilda (Elmer) Fehr, Nathan (Irene) Knobloch, Calvin Weiss, Eunice Knobloch, Edwin, Arthur (Elgeva) Knobloch, Gladys Knobloch, Clarence Dietrich, Ella Mae (Eugene) Schmidt; maternal uncle Robert Wettstein.
