Harry Marvin Blau was born April 4, 1939, the son of Harry B. and Margaret (Duin) Blau. He grew up on a farm North of George, Iowa. On January 30, 1958 he married Barbara Loetscher. To this union two sons were born, Marvin and Kevin. During their first years of marriage Harry worked for neighboring farmers near Sibley, Iowa. In 1965 the family moved into Sibley. Harry worked for an electric utility company in various departments. In 1996 he retired from the company as line foreman. Along with his company job he enjoyed farming their 80-acre farm and raising hogs. A few years after retirement Harry discontinued the farm work and enjoyed repairing equipment for others in his shop. Along with the repair work he sold fasteners and steel.
Harry is survived by his wife Barbara (Loetscher) Blau; two sons, Marvin (Glenna) Blau and Kevin (Katie) Blau; grandson, Lowell Blau; granddaughter, Jennifer Blau; great granddaughter, Summer Johnson; two sisters, Geraldine Harms and Nina Zylstra; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Blau and Nancy Blau.
Those who preceded him in death are his father and mother, Harry B. and Margaret (Duin) Blau; three sisters, Veda Klaassen, Velva Korthals and Margaret Kitchenmaster; three brothers, Bernard, Kenneth and Fred; sister-in-law, Ann Blau; brothers-in-law, Lorne Harms, Donald Klaassen, Marion Korthals, Norman Kitchenmaster, Arjen Zylstra, Edward Loetscher; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Matilda Loetscher.
