Helen Marie Overman

Rock Rapids, IA

     Helen Overman age 85 of Rock Rapids, Iowa died Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids.

            Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 16, 2022 at First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, IA. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 16^th at First Reformed Church of Rock Rapids.

          Helen (Boeve) Overman was born March 28, 1937, at Hull, IA, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Bos) Boeve.

     On August 5, 1955, she was united in marriage to Tunis Overman of Rock Rapids, IA.  They lived in Doon, IA for a brief time before moving to Rock Rapids where they lived together for 54 years.  Tunis died on January 23, 2010.

     Helen worked at Len’s Market in Hull, Rock Rapids Bakery, and Lampshade Factory in Rock Rapids.  She then worked at Lyon County State Bank (now US Bank) for 29 years.  After retiring in 1994, Helen volunteered at Rock Rapids Kids Club for 9 years.

     She served on the Lyon County Fair Board for 11 years, CAC Board, Rock Rapids Business Women, Christian Women’s Club, and was involved with CL Music Boosters and other community activities.  Helen was a member of First Reformed Church and she enjoyed traveling, reading, walking, gospel music concerts, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities, playing games and cards with family and friends.

     Helen is survived by two sons, Terry (Shelley) Overman of Gibson City, IL; Marlin (Shelli) Overman of Rock Rapids, IA; five grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Overman of Sioux Falls, SD; Mark (Angela) Overman of Oklahoma City, OK; Molly (Chad) Augspurger of Gibson City, IL; Darin (Kathryn) Overman of Lakeville, MN; Sidney Overman of Chicago, IL.  Great grandchildren, Tanner, Jordyn, Jayla, Jaxon, Beau, Miles, Emmett, Isla, and Sam.

     Jurrens Funeral Home is in charge of services.

In Lieu of Flowers Helen asked that memorials be directed to the Rock Rapids Kids Club or the First Reformed Church of Rock Rapids.
