     Helen Roemen, age 92 of Rock Rapids died Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Rock Rapids Health Center in Rock Rapids, IA.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 30^th at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Father Francis Makwinja as celebrant.

     Burial will follow at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery in Rock Rapids.

     Visitation will be Friday, June 29^th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Also there will be a Rosary service at 6:45 PM followed by a Vigil service at the funeral home Friday evening.

     Helen Marie Roemen was born August 25, 1925 in Larchwood, Iowa, the daughter of William J. and Magdalen (Neu) Roemen. She was raised in the Larchwood community and attended St. Mary’s School. After her education she provided home cleaning and child care for her family members for several years. She worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Fisch in Rock Rapids until 1956 when she worked as a salesperson at Rexall Drug in Rock Rapids.

     She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids. In her retirement years Helen enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoyed cross stich, playing cards, cooking and baking for her family, Sudoku puzzles and feeding the birds and squirrels. Her family will remember Helen as a loving person who always put others needs first.

     She is survived by brother, Waldemar “Walt” (Sue) Roemen of Linden, AL; sister, Betty Timmerman of Rock Rapids, IA; brother, Jim Roemen of Rock Rapids, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. and Magdalen Roemen; step-mother, Irene Roemen; brother-in-law, Wilbur Timmerman; and sister-in-law, Betty Roemen.
