Helen Doreen Schuck age 80 of Sibley, IA died Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 11th at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley with Rev. Terry Simm officiating.
Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley.
Helen Doreen Schuck was born September 12, 1938, in Steen, MN the daughter of John and Helen (Hoff) Elbers. She was raised in the Steen area and graduated from Hills High School in 1956. On April 21, 1961, she was united in marriage to Larry Schuck at the Steen Reformed Church. The couple made their home and lives farming near Sibley, IA. To this marriage three children were born. Helen will be remembered as a caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. There was nothing she enjoyed more than being with her family. Helen had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. It was said she could remember every Ole and Lena joke she ever heard. She was an unselfish woman who always thought of others before herself. She enjoyed watching Hee Haw, and Wheel of Fortune on TV. She was quite good at it and most often would guess the puzzles before the players would. Board games and fishing on vacation were also fun things she enjoyed. This past Thursday, Helen passed away at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley at the age of 80. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son, Terry (Maria Cristina) Schuck of Little Rock, IA; son, Timothy Schuck of Sioux Falls, SD; and daughter, Shari (Ron) Van Engen of Sibley, IA; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Marvin (Jean) Elbers of Brandon, SD; sisters, Arlene (Jim) Church of Chanhassen, MN; Carol (Marion) Van Bemmel of Luverne, MN and Beverly (Gary) Siebring of George, IA; along with other extended family members.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen; husband, Larry; siblings, Gilbert Elbers, Grace Van Maanen; Cornelius “Stub” Elbers and Jim Elbers.
