Henry Van Wyhe

Hills, MN

     Henry Van Wyhe, age 96 of Hills, MN, formerly of Steen, MN died Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN.

     Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, October 12^th at The Reformed Church of Steen, MN, with Rev. Jeremy Wiersema officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery.

     Visitation will be Sunday, October 11^th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills.

Social distancing protocols will be followed.

     Henry Van Wyhe was born June 22, 1924 on a family farm near Lester, Iowa, the son of Henry Sr. and Christina (Berghuis) Van Wyhe. He attended country school and helped his family with the daily duties of the farm. On May 28, 1946 Henry enlisted into the U.S. Army and before being deployed Henry was united in marriage to Lucy Van Wettering on September 6, 1946 at her parents’ farm near Steen, MN. Henry served his country in Korea and was honorably discharged on May 13, 1947. Henry and Lucy moved to a farm north of Lester where they raised three children and farmed and milked cows until 1991, when they retired. They moved to a home in Hills, MN where Henry lived until entering the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills in July of 2019.

     Henry was a member of Steen Reformed Church and enjoyed fishing and spent most of his later years wood working. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

     Henry is survived by his wife of 74 years, Lucy Van Wyhe of Hills, MN; three children, Lee (wife, Connie) Van Wyhe of Springfield, MO, Les (wife, Leigh) Van Wyhe of Muskegon, MI and Lori (husband, Todd) Van Conant of Sioux Falls, SD; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Harold (wife, Joyce) Van Wettering of Hospers, IA and Dick (wife, Jeanette) Van Wettering of Enumclaw, WA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
