Howard Hoyme age 97 of Hills, MN died, Sunday, June 27, 2021, at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, MN, with Rev. Juanita Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery at Hills, MN.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service, with the family present at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills.
Howard Berdell Hoyme was born January 24, 1924, on a farm west of Hills, MN the son of Emil and Ella (Colby) Hoyme. Howard was united in marriage to Lois Marie Sundal on September 21, 1952, at First Lutheran Church at Colton SD by Rev. Adolph Hoyme and Rev. A. O. Blum. They made their home at Hills, MN. He enjoyed farming and the mechanics of machinery. His hobby was woodworking and he made several pieces of furniture and knick-knacks. Each of his grandchildren have a keepsake woodwork item. He also enjoyed extensive travel. On one of his overseas travels, he rented a car and drove to the birthplace of his and also of his wife’s grandparents in Norway. He was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, where he served on the church boards, as Deacon, Trustee and Usher. He also served on the Elevator Board and as a Township Supervisor. His wife died in 2004, and he continued to live in their home until he became a resident of the Tuff Memorial Home, where he died this past Sunday evening, June 27, 2021, at the age of ninety-seven.
He is survived by his children, Neal (Kathy) Hoyme of Pierre, SD; Holly Willmer of Cheyenne, WY and Eric (Wanda) Hoyme of Hills, MN; eight grandchildren, Nicole Hoyme (Clint Haffner); Jessica (Dan) Oltman; Michael Hoyme; Kyle (Rachael) Willmer; Kevin Willmer (Jillian Pannell); Alissa (Todd) Steve; Ashley (Tony) Wertish and Andrew (Krista) Hoyme; five great grandchildren, Emilie Oltman; Jeremiah Oltman; Greyson Hoyme; Henry Steve and Watson Steve.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant grandsons; brothers, Neil Hoyme; Curtis Hoyme and Paul Hoyme and sisters, MaeLynn Larsen and Kathryn McClune.
