     Ida Marie (Strand) Osterberg, age 89 of Rock Rapids, IA died Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids.

     A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 26^th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids with Rev. Dan Kordahl officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids, IA.

     Visitation will be Friday, Sept 25^th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with family present 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

Ida Osterberg Funeral Service

     Ida Marie (Strand) Osterberg was born March 9, 1931 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest F. and Signe M. (Westerlund) Strand.  She graduated from Des Moines East High School in 1949. During high school Ida worked various jobs, such as baby sitting. Ida’s mother died when she was young, so she and her sisters assumed the household duties. After graduation she worked as a secretary at Farm & City Insurance Company.

     Ida was united in marriage to Dean Osterberg in Des Moines, IA on August 11, 1956. They moved to Madison, SD, where she worked at Security Bank as a teller. Then moved to Doon, IA, before moving to Rock Rapids, IA, where they were blessed with two sons, Michael Dean and David Lynn. She worked as a bookkeeper for Schnepf & Miller Insurance Agency in Rock Rapids for 15 years. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, serving on several boards in Ladies Aid, singing in the church choir and taught Sunday School for many years.

     She enjoyed baking and cooking, especially chocolate chip cookies. Most of all she enjoyed time spent with family, especially her children and grandchildren.

     Ida entered Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids on March 10, 2020, where she remained until this past Sunday, September 20, 2020, when she died at the age of 89.

     She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dean Osterberg of Rock Rapids, IA; two sons, Michael Dean Osterberg and David Lynn Osterberg, both of Fort Dodge, IA; two grandchildren, Cole Osterberg of Omaha, NE and Paige Osterberg of Tigard, OR; one sister, Mildred Kramer of Sioux Falls, SD; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Signe Strand; three brothers, Paul, Don and Gene Strand, two sisters, Eleanor Martin and Janet Kramer; and a daughter-in-law, Robyn (Micheal) Osterberg.
