     John “Jack” Paulsen age 80 of Hills, MN died Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the Luverne Hospice Cottage in Luverne, MN

     A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, MN with the Pastor Juanita Parker officiating.  Private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Hills, MN.

     Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 9^th at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Hills, MN.

     John “Jack” William Paulsen was born on October 5, 1941, at Luverne, MN to John and Martha (Thompson) Paulsen. Jack was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills. Jack grew up on the family farm near Steen, MN and graduated from Hills High School in Hills, MN. After graduating he attended South Dakota Beauty and Barber School in Sioux Falls, SD. Jack started working in Springfield, MN where he met Patricia Rethwill. They were united in marriage on October 20, 1962, in Springfield, MN. They made their home in Springfield, MN then Kasson, MN and eventually moved to Jack’s family farm near Steen, MN. In 1983, Jack and Pat moved to Hills, MN. Jack was a sales representative for Pioneer Seed from 1983 to 2012 and continued seed sales and service for Rheault Ag Supply from 2012 to 2020. Over the years he worked as a veterinary assistant, crop adjuster and for the ASCS office. Jack was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and as a Deacon. Jack also served on the Rock County Rural Water Board and the Tuff Memorial Home Board. Jack dedicated 20 years of service to the Hills Fire Department. Over the years, Jack enjoyed all things Minnesota sports, traveling, bowling, and golfing and had 3 hole-in-ones.

     Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pat of Hills, MN; their children, Todd (Jane) Paulsen of Le Center, MN; Michael (Jen) Paulsen of Sioux Falls, SD and Jackie (Steve) Wells of Rock Rapids, IA; four bonus children, Darlene (Randy) Vanden Huevel of Sioux Falls, SD; Debra Vanden Bosch of Sioux Falls, SD; Buddy (Shawn) Delfs of LeMars, IA and Randy (Jody) Delfs of Hardwick, MN; six grandchildren, Molly (Tareyl) Stewart of Lonsdale, MN; John (Ashley) Paulsen of Le Center, MN; Emily (Dylan) Baker of Le Center, MN; Callista Paulsen of Sioux Falls, SD; Ian and Sydney Wells of Rock Rapids, IA; four great grandchildren, Calla, Sophie, Jack and Sadie; one sister, Janice Delfs of Rock Rapids, IA and a bonus brother, Greg (Jackie) Thompson of Hawarden, IA; niece Kae (Dave) Warren of Rock Rapids, IA and nephew Rodney (Sara) Delfs of Rock Rapids, IA.

     Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha, an infant sister and brother-in-law Raymond Delfs.
