James “Jim” Edward Kill, the son of Michael and Lavina (Hickman) Kill, was born October 26, 1936 on the family farm in Stevens County MN.  He was raised on the farm with 17 other full, half and step siblings.  He attended country school and left the family farm at a young age.  He worked as a farmhand for several years for Ervin & Clara Henrichs who became a second family to him.  On February 2, 1963 James was united in marriage to Marie Henning at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, Iowa.  Together, they raised their family on a farm near Bigelow MN.  Marie passed away at the young age of 45 in 1985.  Jim continued to farm until he retired in 2007.  He took pride in having some of the best looking crops in the county…just ask and he would have told you.  He taught all his kids how to shoot pool and loved challenging anyone to a good game of 8 ball.  His favorite past times were gardening, bird watching, and watching the Vikings play.  He loved sharing his garden harvest and was well known at the local farmers market in Sibley.  Family was always important.  He enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays, and always remembered to send a card.  He will be remembered by his family as hardworking, a good friend and teacher to his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Connie (Dean) Maeyaert of Gary, SD, Shelly (Kevin) Onken of Fulda, MN, Jimmy L.
