Rock Rapids, IA Jim “Chip” Waagmeester age 57, of Rock Rapids, IA died Friday, March 15, 2019 at Pearl Valley Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Primghar, IA. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids, IA with Rev. Kathy Sides officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Monday, March 18th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Jim “Chip” Waagmeester was born September 27, 1961 in Rock Rapids, IA, the son of Gordon and June (Stewart) Waagmeester. He was raised in Rock Rapids and graduated from Central Lyon Schools. Jim enjoyed cars and ran cross country in high school. His love of cars lasted his entire life. He had a special fondness for Ford Mustangs, especially his ’66 and ‘68 versions of the cars. Jim, or Chip as he was known, never had a bad word about anyone. He’ll be remembered as a very nice guy. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and attending rock concerts. Eight years ago, Jim was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease. This past Friday morning Jim passed away at the Pearl Valley Rehab and Nursing Center in Primghar, IA at the age of 57. He’ll be greatly missed. Jim is survived by his mother June Waagmeester of Rock Rapids, IA; sisters, Julie Heaton of Primghar, IA, Lori (Dan) Kahl of Rock Rapids, IA; Melinda Waagmeester of Sioux City, IA; brother, Jerry Waagmeester of Sioux City, IA; daughter, Courtney Madsen of Alpharetta, GA; nephews, Nick (Chelsea) Waagmeester and their son, Rowan, all of Louisville, TN, Andrew Heaton and Christopher Heaton. He is preceded in death by his father, Gordon Waagmeester.
