Jane Luticia Aeilts

     Jane Aeilts, age 81 of Rock Rapids, IA died on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, IA.

     Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 26th at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. Kathy Sides officiating.   Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids.

     Visitation will be Tuesday, June 25^th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

     Jane Luticia Aeilts was born July 1, 1937 in Rockford, Iowa, the daughter of John W. and Viola (Brown) Gruver. She and her family lived near Rockford, IA until age 6, when they moved to Granite, IA. She attended country school through 8^th grade and graduated from Larchwood High School in 1955. She moved to Rock Rapids and worked for Dickinson Insurance Agency and O.J. Reimers Attorney’s Office until 1959.

     Jane was united in marriage to Harold W. Aeilts on May 5, 1957 at the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids. For the first year the young couple made their home in an apartment in Rock Rapids before moving to a farm east of Rock Rapids from 1958 until 1962. From 1962 until 1994 Harold and Jane lived on the family farm northeast of Rock Rapids. In 1994 they then moved to their home in Rock Rapids.  Jane was a member of the United Methodist Church, active with various church activities. She also was an active member of the Rex Strait Post No. 103, American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed cross stitch, reading and traveling with her husband, Harold.

     On February 6, 2013 Jane’s husband of 55 years, Harold died unexpectedly. She remained living in their home until May of 2019, when she entered Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids. She died at the age of 81 this past Friday, June 21, 2019.

     Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Sandra (Jon) Carse of La Grange, GA; and Sarah (Scott) Hilderbrand of Swampscott, MA; grandchildren, Adam Carse of La Grange, GA; Zoe Hilderbrand and Henry Hilderbrand, both of Swampscott, MA; sister-in-law, Darlene Aeilts of Rock Rapids, IA, and other extended family members.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Viola Gruver; husband, Harold W. Aeilts; and infant daughter, Kathy Sue Aeilts.
