Janice “Jan” Feldman, age 67 of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Rock Rapids, IA died on Monday, July 1, 2019 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Friday, July 5th at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Father Francis Makwinja as celebrant.
Burial will be at a later date at the Holy Name Cemetery in Rock Rapids.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Janice Ann Feldman was born on February 4, 1952 in Rock Rapids, IA, the daughter of Carl J. and Lorraine (Ubl) Vogl. She grew up in Rock Rapids and later graduated from Central Lyon High School in 1970. On February 20, 1971, Jan was united in marriage to Jerry Feldman at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids. To this union three children were born, Laura, Kristy and Jason. The couple made their home in Rock Rapids and during that time Jan worked for K Products for a time and then as a bartender at the Pool Hall in Rock Rapids. Jan taught catechism for a number of years at the Holy Name Catholic Church. In 2001, they moved to Sioux Falls where they have lived since then, and during that time she worked for ACE Hardware in Sioux Falls. Jan had a passion for dogs and most recently she was a volunteer training and fostering service dogs for the “Big Paws Canine Foundation” for disabled American Veterans.
Jan’s hobbies and interests included sewing, gardening, flowers, bowling league, camping, mowing, shopping with her children and just being outdoors.
Jan is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Jerry Feldman of Sioux Falls, SD; three children, Laura Ann (Jeffrey) Schleusner of Rock Rapids, IA, Kristy Lyn (Christopher) Harken of Ankeny, IA and Jason Aaron Feldman (Beth Darkow) of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Devon and Seth Henriksen and Allison and Riley Feldman; six siblings, Alan (Rae) Vogl of Ames, IA, Gary (Betty) Vogl, Gene (Diane) Vogl all of Rock Rapids, IA, Mary Jo (Ray) Fenton of Carl Junction, MO, Paul (Mary) Vogl of Fayetteville, NC; and Mark Vogl of Cameron, MO; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lorraine Vogl.
