Janice M. Mahler, age 83 of Littleton, CO, formerly of George, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 29, 2024, at the MorningStar Assisted Living in Littleton, CO.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 11th, at Jurrens Funeral Home of George, with Pastor Travis Remme officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George, IA.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Jurrens Funeral Home of George.
Janice Marie Mahler was born August 22, 1941 in George, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Marie (Sprock) Hollander. She was raised in George and graduated from George High School in 1959. She was on the 1959 state championship girls basketball team.
She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Paul Mahler on December 20, 1963, at First Presbyterian Church in George. Together, they traveled throughout California and Arizona as Paul finished his Army tour before settling in Denver, Colorado. There, they had two daughters, Lori in 1965 and Kristie in 1971.
Jan loved to play the organ and piano. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers in her yard every year. She made her "famous" fat sugar cookies for her friends and family every Christmas. Her favorite way to spend an evening was eating popcorn while watching her favorite movie, Mamma Mia. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Jan is survived by her two daughters Lori (Andrew) Osterberg of Portland, OR, and Kristie Mahler of Denver, CO; one granddaughter Fallon Osterberg of Portland, OR; brother, Darold Hollander of Enid, OK; along with nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband of 31 years, Paul; aunt and uncle, Jake and Sena Dietz; sister Carol Ver Hoef of Rock Rapids, IA; and son-in-law Tim Burch.
