Jean Southwick

Sibley, IA

     Jean Southwick age 92 of Sibley, Iowa died Friday, February 12, 2021 at her residence in Sibley.

     A memorial service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 16, 2020 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley with Pastor Ben Wiersma officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery.

     Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

     Jean Ellen Southwick was born February 22, 1928, the daughter of Nels and Edna (Anderson) Larsen in Oak Park, Illinois.  She grew up in Illinois with her three siblings.  In 1954 Jean was united in marriage to Earl Southwick.  They made their home in several different places including Illinois, Wisconsin, Montana, before settling in Iowa.  Jean’s husband passed away in December of 1977.  She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Sibley, Iowa.  Jean enjoyed being an adopted Grandmother for Hope Haven.  She also enjoyed spending time crocheting, doing crosswords, playing cards, BINGO, gambling, and going out for pizza.  She most especially enjoyed visiting with her family and grandchildren. Her family will remember her as a loving, strong willed mother and grandmother.

     Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Steve (Marsha) Southwick of Ocheyedan, IA, Deb Pesicka of Emmetsburg, IA, Shirley Kinnetz of Ruthven, IA and Robert (Christal) Southwick of Algona, IA; grandchildren, Susan (Bill) Morey, Lora (John) Schuring, Chelsea (Nick) Bleuer, Bryant and Nicole Southwick, and Jennie Kinnetz; great grandchildren, Ava, Emberlee, and Wyatt Askren, Carol and Trinity Morey, Season and Eric Schuring, and Trey and Emerson Kinnetz; along with extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Edna; husband, Earl Southwick; son William Southwick; and great grandson, Logan Morey.
