     Jeanette Eleanor De Jong, age 92 of Rock Rapids, IA died Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at her home, surrounded by family.

     Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, IA with Rev. Carolyn Salberg, officiating. Burial will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery at Orange City, IA.

     Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the family present at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

     Mrs. Jeanette De Jong was born November 5, 1926 in Edgerton MN, the daughter of Andrew and Berendina (Beckering) Masselink. She attended Leota Christian School, Edgerton Christian Junior High School and graduated from Edgerton Public High School. She attended Northwestern Junior College and Westmar College, and taught elementary school for three years.

     She married Dr. Gerald De Jong on June 5, 1950. The couple lived in Wisconsin, Indiana, Kansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa. She was a member of the Congregational UCC Church of Rock Rapids.

     Survivors include five sons, Owen of Wakonda SD, Jerry and his wife Renée of Urbana IL, Drew and his wife Janet of Houston TX, Dr. Chester De Jong and his wife Melinda of Rock Rapids IA, Karl and his wife Kristal of Houston TX; one daughter, Nanette of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, UK; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one sister, Katherine Masselink of Ft. Collins CO; one brother, Benjamin Masselink of Sioux Falls SD.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five brothers and one sister.
