    Jill Senn-Vander Plaats, age 67 of Ashton, IA passed away on Sunday afternoon, September 3, 2023, at the Osceola Regional Health Care Center in Sibley, IA

      Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the Ashton Bible Church in Ashton, IA.

    Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Ashton IA.

Jill Renee was born on August 21,1956 to Edward & Judy Roghair in Sibley. Iowa. Jill was the oldest of 4 children with Todd, Debbie, and Julie to follow.

She graduated from Sibley high school in 1975 and from Northwest Iowa Community College with her LPN degree.  If you knew Jill, you knew that nursing was truly her calling, and she took much pride in being a nurse.  She worked at various nursing homes where she showed her God given gift of caring for others.  She also loved politics, Diet Coke, and scary movies.

She was united in marriage to Mark Senn on June 20th, 1980.  To this union 2 daughters were born, Tess Renee and Lindsey Joy.  The couple later divorced.  She was then united in marriage to David Vander Plaats on February 14th, 1998.

Jill knew Jesus as her personal Lord & Savior since she was 10 years old and was baptized with her sister Debbie when she was 13. She was secure in her eternity and always said knowing Jesus was the best decision she ever made!  She attended Ashton Bible Church where she grew in her faith.

She will be missed and treasured by her children, grandchildren, sisters, and extended family. 

Those left to treasure her memory are her husband David Vander Plaats of Ashton, IA, daughters, Tess (Mike) Betz of George, lA, Lindsey Senn (Jeremiah Schroder) of Sibley, lA, stepchildren, Nicole (Donny) Hughs of Copperas Cove, TX, and Christopher Vander Plaats of San Antonio, TX, grandchildren Jude Betz and Sara Betz of George, lA, Tucker Senn and Mea Schroder of Sibley, IA, step-grandchildren, Roby Jones, Autumn Jones, Rylee Vander Plaats, and Taylor Vander Plaats, step great-grandchildren, Hayden Harmon, and Evie Jones, sisters Deborah Roghair and Julie Roghair of Sibley, IA, and best friend since high school, Patsy Butler of Ashton, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edward & Judy Roghair and her brother Todd Roghair; 10 years old.
