Johanna Korthals, age 85 of George, IA died Monday, December 17, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society Care Center in George, IA.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 21st at Bethel Reformed Church, rural Little Rock, IA, with Rev. Steven DeHaan officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 20th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bethel Reformed Church, rural Little Rock, IA.
Johanna Korthals was born March 29, 1933, the daughter of Klaas and Jennie (DeBoer) Ohling. She grew up on a farm southwest of Ellsworth, MN.
On February 22, 1955, she was united in marriage to Albert H. Korthals. The couple made their home northeast of Ellsworth, MN where they farmed for 42 ½ years. To this union four children were born, Kathleen, Robert, Beverly and Susan. After retiring from farming in 1999, they moved to George, IA.
Johanna was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church. Her hobbies included gardening, baking, canning and playing Pinochle. She also loved working along side her husband Albert on the farm. She was an avid Twins fan.
Johanna is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Albert Korthals of George, IA; four children, Kathleen (Mike) LeTendre of Slayton, MN, Robert (Molly) Korthals of Forest Lake, MN, Beverly (Ron) Droge of Lennox, SD and Susan (Lloyd) VanDyk of Sioux Falls, SD; twelve grandchildren: Ted (Sandy) Christians, their four children, Serena, Gregory, Cara and Tony, Theresa Smidt, her son, Trenton, Terrilyn (Peter) Gokey, Tammi (Dean) Paulzine, their children, Charlotte, Josiah and Maggie, Travis Christians (special friend, Taya Gray), Chris (Alex) LeTendre, children, Brenner, Karter and Kynlee, Pat LeTendre, Aaron (Kacie), their children, Jace, Paisley, Cedar and Maven, Leanne Korthals, Stephen (Maureen) Korthals, their daughter, Isla, Derek (Kristi) Droge, their children, Klaire and Sadie, Christine (Jon) Vandehoef, their children, RJ and Mason, Jennifer (Steve) Peterson, Jessica VanDyk, (special friend, Alex Turbak); three siblings, Gertrude Timmer of Ellsworth, MN and Orvel (Betty) Ohling of Little Rock, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Klaas and Jennie Ohling; brother, Herman Ohling; son-in-law, Ted Christians and brother-in-law, Art Timmer.
