Rock Rapids, IA Joyce Ver Meer, age 88 of Rock Rapids, IA died Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, IA. A private family graveside service will take place Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids. Joyce (Lewis) Ver Meer was born May 6, 1932 to Mae G. Christensen and Frank Lewis at Larchwood, IA. She married John Ver Meer on February 20, 1951 and they had four children. Sonjia, Debra Zell, and Rodney (Barbara) Ver Meer all of Rock Rapids and Beverly (Dale) Plueger of Rock Valley, IA. Also raising nephews Harold, Preston, Delmer, and Bobby Ver Meer; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; five brothers and five sisters; and one grandson, George Eugene Bents. She received joy and satisfaction caring for the needs of others. Her patience and positive attitude drew people to her side, a true friend and someone to confide in. Playing cards with family and friends, collecting lawn ornaments, bowling, and sharing conversation over a cup of coffee brought her happiness. Her smile would show her contentment with what she had and what she did, especially in caring for our precious Sonjia.
