Kathryn Krull

     Kathryn Krull, age 94 of George, IA died Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in George, IA.

     Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, October 22^nd at Jurrens Funeral Home in George, IA, with Pastor Sean Mustian officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George.

     Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday, October 22^nd at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.

     Kathryn Krull was born on June 14, 1924 in Boyden, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Bertha (Evink) Korthals. She was raised in Boyden and attended Country school around the Boyden area.

     Kathryn was united in marriage to Fred H. Krull on July 21,1942 at the Central Baptist minister’s home. They moved to George, IA where they raised three children, Sandra, David, and Becky. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in George. She enjoyed crocheting items for her grandchildren and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.

       Katie lived a very simple life that was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her daily morning and afternoon coffee with the neighborhood women and the nightly hotly contested card games with her brothers and sisters and in-laws and her nightly calls to and from Becky and David filled her days until her illness. Katie will always be remembered for her attention to cleaning and yard work. She liked to have everything in order, even in her nursing home room where she often times scared the nurses with her reaching and bending over to clean her room. Katie never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was a gracious little lady that was loved by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was generous beyond her means and truly a woman to be admired for a life well lived. She will be missed by so many.

   On January 7, 1990 Kathryn’s husband of 48 years passed away at the age of 72 years.   On August 22, 2013 after undergoing a knee replacement and the onset of dementia she entered the Good Samaritan Society of George, where she remained until her death.

     She is survived by her two children, David (Mary Leigh) Krull of Kansas City, KS and Becky Krull of Sioux Falls, SD; two grandsons, Matt (Lauren) Krull of Kansas City, MO, and their children, Katie, Emily and Matthew, and Andy (Liz) Krull of Overland Park, KS, and their children, Drew, Benjamin and Caroline; and many other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Bertha Korthals; her husband, Fred H. Krull; her daughter, Sandra Lee Krull; three brothers, Hank, Garret and Lawrence; and three sisters, Frances Freerks, Effie Green and Cornelia Van Westen, and all of their spouses.
