      Kay Holbrook age 77, of Sibley, Iowa died Saturday, June 18, 2022, at her home in Sibley, IA.

     Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Jurrens Funeral Home in Ashton, IA with Pastor Mike Cooper, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Gilman Township Cemetery at Ashton, IA.

     Kay Marie Holbrook was born November 10, 1944, at Plymouth, Wisconsin, the daughter of Gordon Ladwig and Mary Sramek.  Kay grew up and earned her education at Plymouth Wisconsin.  As a young lady she worked as an LPN at the local hospital.  On June 26, 1966, she was united in marriage to Jerry Holbrook at Plymouth, Wisconsin.  They made their home on a farm near Plymouth and started their family.  Kay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She enjoyed caring for her family in many ways.  With her delicious meals and baked goods, her tender care and her loving, but witty sense of humor.  She spent many hours tending to her and Jerry’s farming and family thru taking care of livestock, gardening, caring for family members in need, loving on her cats or spending spare time fishing with family and friends. Her home was always open to everyone, and many family friends and neighborhood kids called her “Mom”. This past Saturday, June 18, 2022, Kay passed away suddenly at her home in Sibley at the age of 77.

     She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jerry of Sibley IA; their children, Judy Block Purdy of Milwaukee, WI; Todd (Sharon) Holbrook of Sleepy Eye, MN; Jodi (Jerry) Johnson of Ashton, IA; Kim (Mick) Klein of Ashton, IA and Jerry (Rebecca) Holbrook of Ashton, IA; seventeen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren; along with her siblings, Anthony (Jennifer) Sartori of Appleton, WI; Vida (Bob) Willins of Manitowo, WI; Marsha (Tom) Doble of TN; Beth (Tony) Schultz of Plymouth, WI; Ann Sartori of Plymouth, WI; Mary (Michael) Counter of Appleton, WI; Laura Schmidt of Spring Greens, WI; Lisa (Kevin) Bigsby of Johnson Creek, WI, and sister-in-law, Carol Sartori as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

     Kay was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Ladwig; mother, Mary “Midge” Ladwig Sartori; stepfather, Guido B. Sartori, brother, Louis Sartori, sister, Donna Lavrenz; father-in-law, Kenneth Holbrook; mother-in-law, Audrey Dickenson; and brothers-in-laws, Darwin Lavrenz and Ronald Day.
