Kelly Andrew Monier

Sibley, IA       Kelly Monier age 65 of Sibley, Iowa died Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.      A memorial service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, May 21st at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley, IA, with Father Siby Punnoose and Father Richard Reese concelebrating.      A rosary and vigil service will be at 5:30 PM Sunday, May 20th with public visitation following until 8:00 PM at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley.      Kelly Andrew Monier was born January 23, 1953 in Sibley, Iowa, the son of Jerome “Curly” and Phyllis Ann (Baldwin) Monier. He was raised on Century Family Farm 2 ½ miles west of Sibley. He graduated from Sibley High School in 1971. After his education he worked with his father at the Arctic Cat Dealership and raced oval track snowmobiles competitively until 1981.      Kelly was united in marriage to Lori Ann Kellen on September 9, 1978 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sibley. They made their home on the family farm where Kelly grew up. Kelly worked along with his dad, Curly, running and operating the Pioneer Business and small engine repair shop in Sibley. After Curly’s retirement Kelly took over the family business. Upon Kelly’s diagnoses of Pancreatic Cancer in September of 2017, Kelly retired from the family business in January of 2018.      He was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Farm Bureau, Sibley Kiwanis and the National Rifleman’s Association. He enjoyed outdoor activities, such as golfing, hunting with Lori and rides in the country. Together they maintained a large garden yearly and canned all their produce. Kelly and Lori started building their home together in 2004 and moved in three years later. Kelly loved to visit with his farmer friends and family, often sharing a story. Most of all, Kelly cherished the times watching his grandchildren play.      He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lori Monier of Sibley, IA; three children, Sarah (husband Tracy) Renner of Huron, SD, their children, Hunter, Ethan, Matthew and Michael Olson; Jeffery Monier of Sibley, IA, his children, Trystan Schroeder and Ella Rose Monier; and Cole Monier (fiancée Desiree Schaeuble) of Sibley, IA, and their son, Tucker Kelly Monier; parents-in-law, Jack (wife Catherine) Kellen of Sibley, IA; three sisters-in-law, Patricia (husband Tormod) Evenson of Redwing, MN; Stacey (husband Dan) Lonneman of Ashton, IA, Terri (husband Craig) Block of Dakota Dunes, SD; brother-in-law, Paul (wife Sheri) Kellen of Cottage Grove, MN; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.     He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome “Curly” and Phyllis Monier.
