NOTICE: Hills, MN

     Larry L. Carlson age 75 of Hills, MN died Monday, July 29, 2019 at Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne, MN.

     Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 1, 2019, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills,, MN with Rev. Maggie Berndt-Dreyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Kenneth Cemetery at Kenneth, MN.

     Visitation will be Wednesday, July 31^st from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the family present at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, MN.

     The family requests in lieu of flowers - memorial contributions for medical and funeral expenses be made to Donna Carlson.

     Larry Lee Carlson was born October 14, 1943 in Ute, Iowa to Charles and Clara (Zobel) Carlson. He was raised around the Ricketts and Charter Oak, IA area and graduated from the Schleswig, IA High School Class of 1961. Larry spent most of his life in the printing business and last worked at Performance Press in Brandon, SD. Prior to this time, he spent a large part of his career working at Crescent Publishing and the Hills Crescent Newspaper. Larry was a professional pressman and during his career he also worked at the the Luverne Star Herald and the Luverne Announcer. Earlier in his life, he took courses on photography and later he owned several portrait studios in Denison and Charter Oak Iowa and was a professional photographer. In addition to taking portraits, he also took weddings and reunion pictures. Larry’s talent exceeded beyond the studio into the artistic area into natural wildlife photography and won several awards.

     Larry was united in marriage to Donna Halverson on September 21, 1985 at the Kenneth Lutheran Church in Kenneth, MN.

     He enjoyed playing pool, camping and fishing and really loved playing the board game Aggravation with anyone who would play with him. But most of all, Larry loved his family and enjoyed time with them whether it was special events or just being together with the kids and grandchildren. Especially important to Larry was he and Donna spending time camping at Lake Benton with friends.

     Larry is survived by his wife, Donna Carlson of Hills, MN; daughter, Lori Carlson-Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD; son, Mark (Cindy) Carlson of Ashton, IA; son, Eric (Esther) Carlson of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Dena Carlson Wold of Tea, SD; and Alexa Scheidt (Jason) Wozniak of Bloomington, MN; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd (Elaine) Carlson Sr. of Ricketts, IA; mother-in-law, Delores Halverson; nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Clara Carlson; sister-in-law, Margaret Carlson; and father-in-law, Byron Halverson.
