Lavonne Meyer age 88, of George, IA died Friday, June 25, 2021, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Memorial service will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, June 30th at St. John Lutheran Church of Boyden with Rev. Mark Jamison officiating.
Private family burial will take place prior to the service at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Following the service on Wednesday evening the Meyer family invites everyone to join them outside the church.
In lieu of flowers family wishes memorials, to be directed at a later time.
Jurrens Funeral Home of George is in charge of services.
Lavonne Arlene Meyer was born at rural George, Iowa on April 1, 1933. She was the daughter of Harry A. and Marie M. (Habbinga) Dammann. She attended Wheeler #9 Country School and graduated 8th grade from George Community School.
On February 16, 1955, she was united in marriage to Irvin A. Meyer. The couple farmed 3 years southwest of George, then farmed for 3 years at Little Rock, IA and farmed for 5 years southwest of Ashton, IA. In 1966 they moved back to Irvin’s family farm where they farmed the remainder of the farming years. Four children were blessed to this family, Carol, Beverly, Janet and Percy. On November 22, 2002, they retired from the farm and moved to a home in George, IA.
Lavonne loved to cook and bake for her family. She cherished her family and loved playing games and telling stories to her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh!
She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Carol (Kevin) Dirks of George, IA, Beverly (Eric) Raber of Millersburg, OH and Janet (Randy) Schmith of Boyden, IA; a son, Percy Meyer of George, IA; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys (Norm) Moret of Boyden, IA; sister-in-law, Mary Dammann of Sheldon, IA; and 2 brothers-in-law, Jim Van Rennes of Sheldon, IA and Vern (Margie) Meyer of Aberdeen, SD; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Marie Dammann; husband of 58 years, Irvin A. Meyer; great granddaughter, Destiny Joy and 3 brothers, Floyd, Orval and Arnold Dammann. ~Blessed be her memory.
