Leona G. Klaassen, age 98 of Rock Rapids, IA, formerly of Little Rock, IA died Friday, April 24, 2020 at the Rock Rapids Health Centre.
Due to the mandated health care precautions, a private family service will be held Zoar Presbyterian Church, rural George, IA, with Rev. John Pea officiating. Burial follow in the church cemetery.

Leona Gladys Schmidt Klaassen, daughter of George W. Schmidt and Meta Lanjohanna Schmidt was born July 14, 1921 on a farm near George, IA. She graduated from George High School in 1938. Her mother died when she was a little girl and she kept house for her father as a teenager, until she married in 1941. She accepted the Lord as her Savior as a young girl. On February 14, 1941 she was united in marriage to Harlan A. Klaassen. They lived near Little Rock and Adrian, later moving to their farm near George. After her husband died in 1990, she moved to her home in Little Rock, Iowa. She enjoyed farm life, working side by side with her husband. In May of 2015 she entered the Health Centre in Rock Rapids, IA.
Leona was an active member of the Zoar Presbyterian Church, and taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, working with flowers, reading and music.
She is survived by one son Harlan Dale and (Virginia) Klaassen of Little Rock, one daughter Sheryl and (Don) Naatjes of Sioux Falls, S.D., seven grandchildren, Dan Klaassen, Darwin Klaassen, Rick Klaassen, Brad Klaassen, Shelly Haan, Kris Lervaag and Kim LaGrange; seventeen great grandchildren, Shane Klaassen, Carly Herum, Shannon Lloyd, Colby Klaassen, Trevor Klaassen, Brennan Klaassen, Brady Klaassen, Kassidy Klaassen, Bryant Klaassen, Kaden Klaassen, Sofia, Dimitri, Dietrich Haan, Jillian and Jonah Lervaag, Tyler and Jonah LaGrange; four great great grandchildren Matthew and Mia Lloyd, Grayson Klaassen, Hadley Klaassen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harlan, son Kendal, four brothers, Weert, George, Fred and John, three sisters, Marie Bruns, Alice Pals and Matie Konstant and a great granddaughter in infancy.
