Leona Moser

    Leona Moser  age 95 of Hills, Minnesota, formerly of Rock Rapids, Iowa died Wednesday, July 1, 2020  at Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minnesota.

     Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 3, 2020 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, Iowa.  A private family burial which includes Leona’s children, grandchildren, her siblings and in-laws, and 1^st Generation nieces and nephews, will follow the service.  There will be no public luncheon following the service.

     There will be no public visitation.  We will be following the CDC and local social distancing guidelines.

     In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials directed to the Lester Apostolic Church Alms Fund.

     Jurrens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

     Leona Louise Moser was born September 11, 1924 to Henry and Pauline (Dietrich) Mogler in rural Alvord, Iowa. She grew up in rural Alvord and attended Country school through the 8th grade, then Lester High School. After high school Leona worked in the office at the Sioux Falls Air Force Base. In 1945 Leona left the Air Force Base and went to work for her brother Phil with his electrical and appliance business.

     On June 8, 1947 Leona was united in marriage to Leo Moser. They farmed for a short time before moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They co-owned and operated a small grocery store. In 1951 they moved to the farm near Lester and raised two children. In 1983, the couple moved to Rock Rapids where Leona worked in the laundry at Lyon Manor for nine years. She and Leo worked part time for Tony’s Catering for several years.

     Leona enjoyed crocheting and gardening; she loved her geraniums. Her family and friends will remember all the wonderful angel food cakes she made. She became a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in 1949. Her faith was very important to her.

     Leona passed away quite quickly and unexpectedly from natural causes at Tuff Memorial Home of Hills, Minnesota on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.

     Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Wes (Esther) Moser of Lester, IA, and Myra (Arnie) Wulf of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Alex Moser, Trixie (Ethan) Metzger, Jessica Moser, Tessa (Erick) Frewaldt, Kara Moser, Caleb (Holly) Moser, Monica (Tomás) Romano, and Tanya (Taylor) Gramm; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Phil (Donna) Mogler of Rock Rapids, IA, Florence Knoblock of Hills, MN; and Howard (Lillian) Mogler of Alvord, IA; along with many extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Pauline Mogler; husband, Leo Moser; grandson, Landon Wulf; sisters, Dorothy Kellenberger, Melva Messner, Marge Mogler, and Verna Moser.
