Leroy John Renken

Sibley, IA

     Leroy John Renken age 69 of Sibley, Iowa died Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Country View Manor in Sibley.

     Visitation will be Thursday, December 3^rd without the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

     A private burial will take place Friday, December 4^th at the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, IA. 

     Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

     The family has extended an invitation for food and memories at the Chelsea Hattendorf residence following the visitation.

Leroy John Renken was born to John and Susan (Gerkin) Renken on August 10th 1951. Leroy attended country school, Viola Number Nine from kindergarten through eighth grade. He then graduated from Sibley High School in 1969.  Leroy worked for Sibley Egg and Poultry for approximately 5 years.  He then went on to work for Chase Bag where he saw many name changes throughout the 37 1/2 years he was there. Leroy retired at the age of 62.

Leroy was united in marriage to Dianne Mckenzie on March 4, 1988. Dianne had two children Ryan and Chelsea. He then had the joy and privilege of adopting and raising Chelsea from the age of 9 months old and up. Leroy later divorced Dianne on July 9, 1994. 

During Leroy's free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and watching old westerns. What he loved the most was watching his daughter grow and just being a dad.  Then Leroy became a grandpa to three, who he loved to spoil. 

Leroy spent the last year and 3 months on Hospice with Sanford Sheldon. He moved into Country View Manor in March of 2020. Leroy passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 28, 2020

Left to cherish the memories are: Daughter Chelsea (Chris), Dawson, Shane, and Jerzy Hattendorf.  Sister Judy Redmond. Nephews Stacy, Shawn, Scott, and Steve.
