     LeRoy G. Jones age 76 of Rock Rapids, IA died Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids, IA.

     Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. Daniel Kordahl officiating.

     Visitation will be Friday, April 19^th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

     LeRoy Gale Jones was born December 24, 1942 near Howard, SD to Gordon and Grace (Eads) Jones. He graduated from Garretson, SD high school. LeRoy served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. He specialized as a Tank Mechanic. In 1966 He was united in marriage to Judith Ann Ross. LeRoy spent most of his life working as a mechanic. He was especially masterful in bending and installing exhaust pipe. He entered competitions for bending and won many first-place honors in Sioux Falls. LeRoy even went on to a competition in Las Vegas, which he handily won as well. In the 1960’s LeRoy owned the Mobile gas station on the corner of 75 and 9 which is where Casey’s is at present. He then worked for Samuelson Motors followed by many years at Vander Lee Motors in Rock Rapids. In February of 2001 LeRoy was united in marriage to Marlys Timmerman. They made their home in Rock Rapids. His family will cherish many fond and loving memories of LeRoy. As a father and as a grandpa he was attentive and fun. He loved attending their school activities. LeRoy loved nature. He enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as watching birds and squirrels that would visit his back yard.

     He is survived by his wife, Marlys Jones of Rock Rapids; sons, Tom (Deb) Jones of Sioux Falls, SD and Terry Jones of Rock Rapids, IA; grandchildren, Shelby Jones and Jeremy Jones both of Sioux Falls, SD, Anna (Matt) Winfrey of Sioux Falls, SD, Laura (Ryan) Hannusch of Ames, IA, Stephanie (Jacob) Wardyn and Bryan Bender all of San Antonio, TX, Emma Jones of Madison, SD; 5 great grandchildren; Step-children, James (Wendy) Timmerman of Reading, MN, Susan (Brad) Hinsch of George, IA, Bonnie (Richard) Hybertson of Beresford, SD, Alan Timmerman of Rock Rapids, IA, Benjamin (Brittney) Timmerman of Fulda, MN, Kyle (fiancé Ashley) Timmerman of Lakefield, MN, Jason (Kayla) Hinsch and Jessica (Jeremy) Gibbons all of Harrisburg, SD, and Patrick Hybertson of Beresford, SD; 5 step-great grandchildren; brothers, Larry (Cathy) Jones of Shelton, WA and Keith (Teri) Jones of Corson, SD; nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rodney Jones and Claude Jones; step-mother, Esther Jones; daughter-in-law, Barb Jones and great-granddaughter, Ivy Winfrey.
