     Linda McCormack age 78 of Rock Rapids, IA died on April 5, 2024, at Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids.  

     Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2024, at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids with Rev. Travis Remme, officiating.

     Linda Lee McCormack was born August 31, 1945, in Sioux Falls, SD, the daughter of Will “Bill” H. and Eva (Ayer) Haegele. She was raised on a farm near Lester, IA until age 6, when they moved to Rock Rapids, IA in 1951. She attended Central Lyon High School and graduated in 1963. She continued her education at Iowa State University in Ames, IA. She returned to Rock Rapids and began her lifelong career with the Rock Rapids Public Library. 

     She was united in marriage to Marion J. McCormack on November 25, 1980, at the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids, IA, where they remained living. She worked for many years at the public library as Director of Staff. 

     On June 4, 2019, Linda’s husband, Marion died. She continued working at the library until she unexpectedly died, this past Friday, April 5, 2024. 

     She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Marie D. Schmidt of Rock Rapids, IA and Kathryn McCormack of Omaha, NE; a niece, Claire Rosales of Omaha, NE; a great-nephew and great-nieces, Brandon, Danya, Josie and Melanie; and other extended family.

     She was preceded by in death by her parents, Will “Bill” H. and Eva (Ayer) Haegele; husband of 38 years, Marion J. McCormack; and step-mother, Verna V. Haegele.
