     Lorenzo “Larry” Romero III, age 52 of Larchwood, Iowa died Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Avera Mc Kennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

     Memorial mass will be 10:30 AM Friday, February 7, 2020 at The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood, Iowa with Father Francis Makwinja celebrating.  Inurnment will follow in the Larchwood Cemetery.

     Memorial visitation will be Thursday, February 6^th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with the family present from at the The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood.  There will be a 7:00 PM Vigil Service at the church.

     Jurrens Funeral Home of Larchwood is in charge of arrangements.

     Lorenzo “Larry” Romero III was born June 4, 1967 to Maryjane (Amor) Linton and Lorenzo “John” Romero Jr. in Manhattan, New York.  He was raised in San Jose, California by his mother Maryjane and his step-father Kenneth Linton and attended Branham High School, graduating in 1985.  After high school Larry joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego, California for 4 years.  In 1994 he was joined in marriage to Dawn Clasen. They lived in Rock Rapids, Iowa, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Scottsdale, Arizona, before moving to Larchwood, Iowa in 2004.  They raised together three children; Lina Marie, Lorenzo IV, and Emily Ann.  They were his purpose for everything, and everything he worked for. 

     Larry had various careers in his life. He was most proud of being a marine and a family man, but also worked jobs such as Culligan man, a sales route driver for Boar’s Head in Arizona, and most recently worked as a telecommunications sales representative for Knology out of Sioux Falls. He had a passion for sports, and played and coached baseball for many years in California. He was an avid football fan who loved the Green Bay packers and West Lyon football. 

     He enjoyed spending time with the kids and grandkids by going on hikes, fishing, camping and long road trips. His family will remember him as hardworking, patriotic, loyal, a loving father, and a family man.

     Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 26 years, Dawn, his three children: Lina Marie, Lorenzo IV, and Emily Ann Romero all of Larchwood, IA; and his two grandchildren, Nahla and Zak, Mother Maryjane Linton, step-father Kenneth Linton; siblings, Eric (Melissa Hanson) Romero of Salem, OR, Jody (Bob) Ruiz of San Jose, CA, Margaret Ann (Michael) Serck of Sioux Falls, SD, and Kenneth Jr. (Courtney) Linton of Larchwood, IA; and many other extended family.  

     He was preceded in death by his father, Lorenzo “John” Romero Jr., and his grandmother, Mimi Amor Verde.
