Lori Lynn Goldhorn was born May 29, 1957 in Rock Rapids, IA, the daughter of Alfred and Alice (Van Engen) Goldhorn. She grew up in Rock Rapids and attended the Christian School through the sixth grade, and then went to Central Lyon. After graduating, she attended Northwestern College in Orange City and earned a teaching degree. In the fall of 1979 she moved to West Point, NE where she taught Special Education for the West Point Public School System for many years.

Lori frequently traveled back to Rock Rapids to visit her family and spend time with her niece and nephew, Amber and Reid. They had a very special place in her heart and she loved to spoil them! She also had a special spot in her heart for her great nieces and nephews! A long-time resident of Nebraska, Lori was an avid Nebraska Corn Husker fan and loved attending games when she could. When in West Point, Lori attended the Trinity Church and enjoyed getting together with her friends.

On June 22, 2013, Lori was united in marriage to John Ovington.  After her retirement in 2016, they began to winter in Arizona. They made Apache Junction, Arizona their permanent home in 2018 and enjoyed the warm temperatures and beautiful scenery. They attended the New Hope Church in Apache Junction. John was a loving husband and an amazing care giver as health issues began for Lori. Lori passed away at the age of 63 on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, in Apache Junction, AZ.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband John, her sister and brother-in-law, Sheri and Ron Vander Veen; her niece Amber and husband Kevin Vanderwal; her nephew Reid and wife Lauren Vander Veen: and six great nieces and nephews - Amelia, Quinn, and Oliver Vanderwal, and Ronan, Auden, and Revel Vander Veen; and step children Billy Ovington; Jeanine Bain and husband Todd, and step-grandchildren Ashton Bain, and Blake, Haylee, and Drake Ovington.

Lori is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Alice Goldhorn.
